Oromia Land Grab: Buying a parcel of land with your soul

It is not just the Saudis, the Indians and other foreigners that are engaged in land grab in Oromia after all. Some in the Oromo Diaspora are also busy participating in displacing the Oromo poor from their land and sharing the booty with the TPLF regime of Ethiopia. The list is long but it includes Oromo church “elders” and community “leaders”.

What is a parcel of land worth for these people? Their soul!

Here are three of the MPLS, MN “elders and leaders” with Girma Birruu of TPLF/OPDO selling their souls for a few acres of land in Oromia.

To enlarge, click on the picture.

Thank God for the nationalists in MPLS (see picture below) for their continued effort to be the voice of our voiceless people back home.

Have your say!

Let the chaff be separated from the wheat. OPDO is cleaning our society without which these wolves in the sheep skin would stay among us and suck our blood through their espionage. I would like the author to let us know their name so that we will let every body know and take extra care.

Hi dear Oromo,
let's not be fools! I don't think the OPDO-Oromo like Obbo Girma Birru are anti-Oromia. Let them do their job in their style/way. We like or not our mindset (the OLF) is moving in five directions towards the same kaayyoo of bilisummaa Oromo and walabummaa Oromia:

- UDJ's way to get freedom from Woyane (from Abyssinian colonization/domination) and then foster an Ethiopian union, regardless of the Oromian existence.

- OPDO's way to lead us to Oromian autonomy being engaged in the structure of the incumbent.

- OFC's way to achieve the same result to that of OPDO as an opposition per ballot.

- ULFO's way to bring us to the independent republic of Oromia per bullet.

- AFD's way to liberate us in a form of both bilisummaa Oromo and walabummaa Oromia leading us further to a regional union of independent nations.

So, dear Oromo brothers and sisters, our struggle is vertical against the Abyssinian colonizers, not necessarily horizontal against each other (not a fight of UDJ vs OPDO vs OFC vs ULFO vs AFD, all of them being lead by our mindest, by the OLF)!

Obbo "Fayyis" Oromia (the commentor before this one),

Now you think we are fools because we object to OPDO? You are something!

I hope you stop your deafening repetition of the same mantra over and over again on various web sites. No one is listening to you because what you are saying does not make sense at all. This is what Einestine said the definition is insanity: doing the same thing the same way over and over again expecting a different result.

Give it up!

Despite the fact that the two BIG nations in the Ethiopian empire are under a very dire situation, why did they fail not to foster a tokkummaa (a unity) of the Oromo liberation fronts or an andinet (a unity) of the Amhara democratic forces and a tumsa/tibibir (an alliance) with each other or with the other anti-Woyane forces? The answer to the question you raised can be: the only way for us to overcome this mentality is by embracing the 21st century mentality of democracy. The 19th century mentality of brute force and mischieve, under which few of the Oromo elites and most of the Habesha elites in the Ethiopian empire are suffering, is the backward mentality of the dictators (of the V-politicians), whereas the 21st century mentality is that of the democrats (of the Y-politicians), who do believe in human and national freedom to self-determination. For what do both the letters V and Y stand here? Who are these V or Y Oromo and Habesha politicians?

To understand the V-politicians, let’s just imagine a big letter V and try to visualize that at the bottom junction of the letter are the Tigrean dictators keeping the status quo of Tigrean hegemony; at the left top tip of the letter are the dictatorial independenists of the Oromo, Ogaden…etc; and at the right top tip are the dictatorial unitarists of the Amhara, Gurage….etc. If we look at the way how these three forces deal with each other, they just do want to achieve their respective goals unconditionally: the Tigrean hegemonists want to keep their domination at any cost, the dictatorial Oromo independenists try to achieve Oromian independence at any cost and the dictatorial Amhara unitarists also want to bring back their Amharinized and unified Ethiopia at any cost. Especially, the unconditional positions of the two opposition camps, i.e that of the unconditional independenist Oromo and that of the unconditional unitarist Amhara, who are antagonizing each other and continiously barking at each other, is a trillion dollar lottery, which the ruling Tigrean elites are enjoying now by further dividing and polarizing the two opposition camps, because of the fact that both the Amhara dictators and the Oromo dictators (the V-politicians of the two opposition camp) can not forge a challenging an all-inclusive alliance against the Woyane!

Anonymous said...

To see who the Y-politicians (the democrats in the two opposition camps) are, let’s just try to imagine a very big letter Y and try to distinguish four points on the letter (the bottom tip, the middle junction, the left top tip, and the right top tip). Then let’s imagine that the bottom tip is the status-quo of Ethiopian politics, where both the Amhara and the Oromo are under the tyranny of the Woyane; the middle junction is a point for freedom of both nations from the tyranny; the left top tip is the point of Oromian independence; and the right top tip is the point for Ethiopian union. Then let’s imagine that this letter Y is a route of the liberation journy for both the Amhara and the Oromo from the tyranny, from their present common situation, towards their short term and long term goals. Can we imagine that the democrats of these two oppressed nations do have a possibility to move from the bottom tip (point of tyranny) to the middle junction (point of freedom) together? This is our common route of the journey towards this common converging short term goal (kaayyoo) of freedom. Then after will come, the two diverging routes towards the two different and diverging long term goals of the two nations: the left top tip = Oromian independence (the long term goal of the Oromo liberators) and right top tip = Ethiopian union (the long term goal of the Amhara democrats).

Now if we could imagine this letter Y very well, it is not hard to comprehend that we need the Amhara-Oromo alliance (the all-inclusive alliance) to move from the status-quo of tyranny to the point of Freedom, not to move together to the right top tip (together to the Ethiopian union goal of the Amhara) or together to the left top tip (together to the Oromian independence goal of the Oromo people). After achieving our Freedom together, it is upto the Oromo public to decide per referendum which direction to move further: to the left top tip of Oromian independence or to the right top tip of Ethiopian union. If the Oromo majority will choose to move to the right top tip, then our long term kaayyoo will be similar to that of the Amhara democrats, i.e Ethiopian union. Otherwise, if the Oromo majority will choose to move to the left top tip, no Habesha dictator can hinder the Oromo nation from achieving this Oromian independence.

I do not understand what language this an advocate individual for the alliance with Amhara understands. The gallant Nation of Oromia is unequivocally stating that: "We do not need an alliance with the enemy to realize our freedom." Please leave us alone and go to the Ethiopian forums. No person with a single an Oromo drop of blood will buy this trap from you.

This individual shows pure mental insanity which is often characterized by lack ability to filter the reality from his own hallucination. You know, I know, and even our enemies fully understand what the only solution for the colonized people is. So let this agent of Amharo keep licking his own wounds. Because he will never convince a soul that it is an acceptable nutrition, let alone the disgusting nature of his acts which he obviously fails to see.

Bro/Sis,
cool down! No Oromo with sound mind is against the Kaayyoo (self-determination), be it can lead us to independent Gadaa republic or independence within a union! If you really can do the business without the necessitiy of the proposed alliance, go on! But I hope this rhetoric of yours is not the known song of the Woyane cadres, who are camouflaging as pro-independence forces just to hinder the effective alliance against their rule in Finfinne palace!

Otherwise, "....from the Oromo perspective, the best way to forge an effective alliance against the enemy is by empowering the Oromo or by strengthening the Oromo liberation camp. When we do have a strong and efficient liberation force, all our neighboring nations, including the Amhara, who are now suffering under the Tigrean tyrants, will surely seek an alliance with us. That is why I tried to promote the formation of only one big and efficient OLF. It is good that the OLF-KY and the OLF-SG had agreed to merge; we hope that the OLF-QC and the ULFO will join the unity in due time so that we will have only one stronger OLF. I am sure that there is no difference of Kaayyaoo between the different factions of the OLF, but they do move with different strategies to the same goal. This is not bad so long they be careful not to fight each other, but do target the enemy from different directions. For instance, let OLF-SG move using the tactical alliance with the Habesha democratic forces towards the goal and let OLF-QC move without such tactical alliance until both of them decide to come together under one political structure...."

The same person who used to argue that Kaayyoo of the 3 OLF factions is one and the same (he calls it trinity on comments of previous article) is now added OPDO to the list. He is kedding or insane?

To be blamed are not only leaders, but also the whole Oromo nationalitists in the community, who are divided on minor issues, instead of being united based on Oromummaa. It is such a divided community that failed to produce efficient and intelligent leaders, who can lead us to the promised land of bilisummaa. So let's all Oromo nationalists work on correcting ourselves and join the OLF, whom we want to strengthen and in which we want to see such ideal leaders as you suggested. Just criticizing the leaders without being part of the OLF is simply a crocodile tear, which some Oromo nationalists do show.

A person who used to argue all KAYYOOS of OLF factions are the same has expanded his domain to include all Oromo Organizations and slowly moving to include all ethipian forces. He used to write extensively on gadaa.com using different names but now writes on ehtiopian review as well. See the link above.
He finally found home for his essay and I encourage him to continue writting there instead of wasting his time on Oromo forums.

As far as I am concerned, unfortunate to the real Oromo foes, OLF is no more only structural organization, but a mindset leading almost all Oromo nationalists in a walk of life, for the name OLF means simply a carrier of Oromo’s longing and wish for bilisummaa. That is why I dare to say that the genuine Oromo patriots in the above other four organizations (namely: OPDO, OFC, ULFO and AFD) are also the carriers of this mindset, which is already programmed with the notion of bilisummaa. I think even Oromo individuals, who are politically active in the anti-Oromia unitarists (xeqilaigizat-federalists) like AEUP, are not totally free from this mindset. What do we mean by this OLF-mindset?

A mindset is a fixed mental attitude or disposition that predetermines a person’s responses to and interpretations of situations; in short, it is an inclination or a habit. It is a set of assumptions, methods or notations held by one or more people or groups of people – which are so established that they create a powerful incentive within these people or groups to continue to adopt or accept prior behaviours, choices, or tools. This phenomenon of cognitive action is also sometimes described as mental inertia, “groupthink”, or a “paradigm.” According to this definition, the hitherto OLF-mindset is a powerful incentive and a struggle for bilissummaa Oromo, which can lead us from the status quo (garbummaa = slavery) using different strategies and tactics to our Oromo-kayyoo (Oromo goal), i.e. to bilisummaa. In short, OLF-mindset is the bilisummaa-mindset, which controls the conscious and genuine Oromo patriots in a walk of life. No Oromo patriot with logical and sound reasoning is free from this mindset. http://gadaa.com/oduu/3580/2010/05/12/oromo-tokkummaa-via-the-olf-mindset-in-the-bad-opdo-the-good-ofc-the-better-ulfo-and-the-best-afd/

Anonymous who tried to present blood sucker OPDO or Girma Birruu as pro Oromia is really an anemy agent trying to gather information for Wayane on what we think by writing provocative comments. Otherwise, defending Girma Birruu as pro Oromia is legitimizing: the death, the imprisonment, the exploitation, the diplacement, of thousands of innocent Oromo people by OPDO. Defending OPDO as pro Oromia ammounts to laughing at the blood and the grave of thousands of innocent Oromos who lost their lives in the hands of OPDO.It really ammount to laughing at the cry and the tears of Oromo mothers who lost their husband,Oromo fathers who lost mothers caring for their children, children who have been orphaned, children who lost the future and hope. This ammount to laughing at many Oromos who died on Indian Occean and Mediteranian Sea while runig away from persecution.

The anonymous who supported Girma Birruu is an enemy agent who should really be blacked out.The bitter truth is that, your argument does not path the straight-face test.

I have a question for the anonymous who has put Girma Birru as pro Oromo. When was the invistagation conducted on him? When was he brought before court and which court? When was he acquitted of crime to call Girmaa Birru as non criminal OPDO?

Anonymous said...

So we need first to discern these five groups (main enemy Weyane, currently “harmless” foes, gangrenous parts of our body as well as paralyzed parts and healthy parts). To put it in short, all Abesha parties, excluding Weyane, that have in their programmes an intention to dismantle Oromia are our momentarily “harmless” foes. The gangrenous parts of our body are the CRIMINAL Oromos working with Weyane and still covertly or overtly fighting against our liberation struggle. Mind you, all OPDO Oromos are not criminal. The paralyzed parts of our body are those not yet politically conscious parts of the Oromo nation; they can potentially be activated to play a great role in the liberation movement. The functioning parts of our body include the politically conscious and active Oromos in the ruling party aka OPDO, in the opposition parties like OFDM and OPC as well as in rebel fronts, such as the OLF and other ULFO members.

Meles Zenawi has said that if one ‘scratched’ most OPDO members (like a scratch-it lottery game), one would reveal that most OPDO members supported OLF fully.
No question the appropriate approach towards our main enemy aka Weyane is that we do fight against it with all our possible means. The “harmless” foes can now be tactical friends for they, too, are suffering under the tyrannic subjugation of Weyane. If they come to their senses and respect our God-given right to self-determination, they even can be our strategical friends. Otherwise, we just check each other tactically to certain extent as long as we do have common enemy aka Weyane. It is their stubborn wish to get rid of Oromia by opposing “ethnic” federation in principle, what makes these Abesha forces a potential foe for the Oromo nation and this attitude of theirs is an obstacle for a possible strong alliance against the fascist Weyane regime.

Now the question we Oromos need to answer is how can we coordinate our own functioning body parts, which are moving at the above mentioned three different levels? Here is where we need TANDEM activity. Imagine three people pedaling on a tandem cycle which can be ridden by three persons. The synchronized pedaling of the three persons is very necessary for the cycle to move forward and even to move as quickly as possible. If one of the three riders is not synchronized with the other two, there will be a distortion in the forward movement or it slows the speed markedly. That is why I do advocate for the synchronized move of the genuine non-criminal Oromo activists in the ruling party OPDO, the activists in the opposition parties and the freedom fighters in the rebel fronts, specially those rallying behind OLF in order to promote our liberation journey forward and accelerate it to reach our destiny efficiently.

It makes me sad even at times very angry when I see Oromos who would sell their conviction to the Oromo cause in exchange for the simple selfish benefit while our people suffer under brutal, malicious occupying force. What breaks my heart is especially seeing people in Diaspora surrender to the enemy.
Our people back home have no right at all whether they like it or not they are under the Gun. But for the Oromos in Diaspora who enjoy freedom and have plenty to be self sufficient at least, why bother to bow down for the enemy!!!
Some handful opportunists, spine-less , and selfish Oromo folks turned their back on our legitimate struggle. As the struggle gets tougher and tougher, they started finding excuses to abandon the struggle. You know what? Some of this folks never have believed in the cause in the first place. For them , success means to have political asylum granted, then re-settle their family in the West and provide a good future for their children. That is it!!!
In fact, one of the folks in the picture has a long history of hunting OLA in Western Oromia when he was the administrator of one of the wordas there during the Mengistu regime. He and his comrades ( ISAPAs and area militias) at the time would patrol the bush to weed out “wanbade” ( as they call it at time) In one occasion, as usual, he marched to the bush with his “forces” . They encountered the gallant forces of the OLA. Before even shooting a bullet him and his comrades begun running for their life leaving their weapon and uniforms in the bush. Today, he should thank the poor Oromo farmer and his family who helped him escape. At that time, rumor was circulating that when he arrived in the outskirt of the town, he was dressed as a woman (qamisii and shashi) in disguise to save his life. To me, it’s not that surprising to see his picture with another collaborator of the enemy of the Oromo people. Because he has done it before. He worked along and took pictures with Negusse Fanta, who was the Derg, another collaborator of the Oromo enemy. What is the difference? Back then, Oromia was under occupation by another Abyssinan government, he worked with the agent of the government to keep Oromos under occupation. Now, Oromia is under occupation by another successive Abyssinan government again he may be working with another agent of the current regime. I think, there is a minor difference—the late Negusse Fanta was not Oromo and Girma Biru is an Oromo by birth. That’s all!

Just a month or so ago I was watching/listening to a broadcast on the internet. Someone said to Girma Birru, in front of audiences “ Don’t you feel guilty when thousands of Oromos languish in prison cell and you serve the same government that terrorizes your people? You are Oromo, aren’t you? “ From what I gather, the person asking the question is not Oromo but in his own way he disgraced Girma Birru In front of woyyane supporters and others who assembled to hear what Woyyane agents would preach. But in MPLS, MN where tens of thousands of Oromos reside. Some Oromo greedy, selfish individuals pose for picture with the collaborator.

Time will come!!!

Nagati!!!

Atoo Fayyis,
You must appreciate the fundamental principle you share with Atoo Girma Birru!!!! Please stop beating around in the Bush. It is clear, but did you ask Girma your share of the Oromo land?

Anonymous said...

Girma Birru's primary job as Ambassdor for the woyane regime in U.S is to defened each and ever human right abuses and violations Meles and his cronies conducted in the peoples of Ethiopia. Oromoos being the #1 target (as Siye Abraha one of TPLF former leaders himslef witnessed more than 80% of the political prisoners in the Ethiopian empire are Oromos)of the TPLF government, Girma Birru would stand up and denies such REALITY and FACT before the International community and the U.S government. This in it by itself makes Girma Birru the enemy of the Oromo people. If any of you disagree with this simple logic. You may be in one of the following catigories.
(A) You do not support the Oromo just cause regardless of which organization you simphatize with
(B) You don't believe that Oromos are prisoned in such a great number or even for political reasons.
(C) You know the fact speaks that the truth is in the side of the Oromo but you sold your soul for material/monetry gain.

As for me, when it comes to Oromos who work for Woyane, I can deal with or forgive the foot solidiers. But, NOT people at the top echelon of this cursed organization called OPDO.

Going back to the subject of this article. I could not understand why these 3 people whom I know very well would go and meet Girma Birru, leave alone taking pictures with him. Instead, I expect them to be among the demonstrators who at that time was fullfilling their responsiblity as Oromos and as the childern of God of justice. After seeing this picture, I'm inclined to believe that there must be some change of mind on the part of these individuals. As the whole world knows, Woyane has tightned its grip strengthing its dictatorial power on the peoples of Ethiopia. So, the change of mind defintely propled by some selfish intersets NOT by Woyane's good deeds.

“…The Oromo polity must stop the foolish quarrel in the endless discussion on the issue: “Autonomy vs Independence.” Both options are still entertained for they are not exclusive to each other, but the final decision will be made by the Oromo public verdict. That is why I do say autonomous Oromia within an Ethiopian union (true killil-fedretion) can be the common ground to build an alliance of Amhara and Oromo forces against the fascist Weyane. I must repeat this again and again: it is only a transitional arrangement leading us to the future public verdict, where the Oromo mass will choose between “an Oromian autonomy within the Ethiopian union” and “an Oromian independence within the African union” as a lasting solution. This decision must be left for the Oromo public as an exercise to self-determination after getting rid of Weyane fascists; it should not be predetermined now by Oromo polity.

As far as I am concerned, the following is the reality of the political development in the empire:

- Unitary Ethiopia is obsolete and belongs to the past;
- Weyane’s Ethiopia is evil and temporary;
- Ethiopian union (true killil-federation) is a transitional solution;
- Oromian independence is indispensable and a must;
- Union of independent nations in the Horn/Africa (confederation) is the beneficial and lasting solution!

This is the summary of my hitherto position. So, to take autonomous Oromia as a temporary goal of the possible all inclusive alliance against Weyane fascists doesn’t necessarily mean opposing the future Oromo public decision for an independent Oromia. I know this topic of discussion will never end till we settle it per public verdict in the future. Till then, we can express our only individual or organizational positions, but we can not decide for the Oromo people…..”

I am saddened that this blogger posted the picture of these respected individuals on this blog as if they were enemies of the Oromo people. This is very irresponsible to say the least. Please go to Books for Africa web site and see in what context the picture was taken. These individuals were very active in sending books to the children in Oromia. They have affiliation with Books for Africa, the biggest organization that ships books to Africa. That’s why they were there. The ambassador was there to give a speech, and the organizers took their pictures together. The meeting has nothing to do with investment or getting land. You may think their taking picture with him is wrong, but still that will not make them enemies of the Oromo, or people who sold their soul to get land. Please put this in perspective and remove their picture. It’s very irresponsible to do this to individuals who are doing their best in their own way for the welfare of their people. They are sacrificing money and time to do this. They did this so that Oromo children could get books. They have nothing to gain from this. I wish some of us do half of what they have done for our children back home instead of bickering and engage in character assassination.

"The meeting has nothing to do with investment or getting land"
What about the picture?
The problems are not with sending books to Oromia, nothing is wrong with that; the problem is with posing for picture with the ambassador. This picture is not taken randomly with the crowed; they purposely posed for the picture. What is the purpose of posing for a picture with the ambassador?

Anonymous said...

Let us say the organizers asked them to take pictures with the ambassador, couldn't they say no?
These people are not in Ethiopia, they are in the United States of America, no one can punish you for refusing to take pictures with some official.

Anonymous said...

The question is not whether their taking picture with the ambassador is correct or not. The question is whether the title and article of the blogger is misleading and totally untrue. Reasonable people could disagree whether taking the picture is correct or not. But to say that they sold their soul for a parcel of land is totally outrageous. The blogger is intentionally misleading his audience by implying that they attended an investment meeting or something to that effect. Oromos have become so mean against each other. This does not help anybody. It will just inflame the relationship between us. Come into your sanity and remove the picture. This is just crazy.

Blogger,
It is sad to see you posting information from your good friends in Minnesota without validating the truthfulness of the statement. The good friends would probably try to send you any information that they feel useful to target some individuals or to prepare their own new topic of talk.
It is wonderful to engage ourselves in activities against Land grape in the Horn, particularly in Oromia. It is should be the right thing to campaign against before Oromo loss all his arable land. But first let the individuals who contributed to this article and the blog site itself engage themselves in mobilizing the Oromo Diaspora and Oromo friends against the Indians, Arabs and Tigrai people who are talking away the lion share of Oromo land for a price of a loaf of bread per acre . Unfortunately those individuals shown in the photograph and wrong fully accused for land grapping were not engaged with the fourth person in the picture to promote their interest or to exchange their soul for Oromo farmland.
These individuals have been trying to help Oromo students by sending books to Oromia in collaboration with the Book for Africa.

You have to take away this article and apologize to those individuals for collaborating with your good friends to wrongfully labeling them as anti-Oromo individuals.

I believe this kind of work needs to be supported and actually contributed money for shipping books that were collected by individuals I mentioned above, but these individuals are not going around taking pictures with collaborators of the Nazi government, the enemy of our people. There is a line that should not have been crossed in the first place and those who crossed the line have to face the consequences.

Hopefully Oromia will not fall in the hands of fascists who don't accept pluralist society based on individual's right. Fascists are the different side of a coin when compared with nazis. We don't need transition from one type of torture to the other. All totalitarians groups are the same whether they are from sworn enemy or from home made fascists.

Anonymous said...

From posting of this false allegation in this blog I see where the so called transition group is heading. Truly this approach of mischaracterizing individuals indicates where this group is now as political entity. They are heading to the last trench of their venue where its end is their grave. They are already on the edge of their grave pit and they will be off the edge soon not to revive again forever. The demising of political entity starts when it begins targeting innocent members of the people it claims to represent.

Blogger, don't you have any decency left in you? What is your proof that the picture was taken in relation to land grab? If you cannot prove this, then you have to apologize and remove the pictures. This is pure defamation, and a criminal act. Since when has sending books to Oromo children become a criminal act? And since when has it become Oromia land grab? I just could not see the association. If you have any personal grudge against these indviduals let us know, but do not use the Oromo name to castigate them!

I read an article on land grab more than a month ago and there were few comments back then. When I came back to it following a link from gadaa, the debate is gotten hotter than when it was posted for the first time. What has changed since, Is it to do with an article on Ethiopian airlines?

Is it an order from Ethiopian embassy to attack the blog , did the ambassador contacted good friends from Minnesota on this, what is it? what has changed? Is this really about the picture that was posted on June 14 or about an article on Ethiopian airlines?

Where is the really relationship between the Ethiopian airlines blog and this one? Are Oromo getting off thier mind? Just using a virue of the posting of thier photographs on this blog some of us use it as a chance to Vilify these individuals by trying to connect twototally different topics.

Let God spare us from such curse.

Somebody wrote the following: "... These people are not in Ethiopia, they are in the United States of America, no one can punish you for refusing to take pictures with some official...."

When you are a guest on a given occasion and the hosting office ask you for a photo ops, it is unprofessional and disrespectful for the hosting company to say no thanks. Probably it is possible in life style of some of us. But it is an expected to treat your hosting party in such an arrogant and rude way in a civilized world. Please grow up and live to the standard of the country you are leaving in.
A short message for the writer of the comment: I am sure you are the type who probably will kiss Girma’s shoe if you get a chance.

It is unbelievable to see a gang group of faction of a political organization labeling individuals in the way they want to without having concrete evidence about the issue they are labeling to. This will repel the largest majority of Oromo to forget about supporting any political group. There are reasons for making such a decision by any person who has a health mind and critical thinking:
1. If a group make irrational act of defamation in open society of western hemisphere, presumably where they reside, there is no question to shoot anyone deemed to be their opponent when and if they grasp power in Oromia/Ethiopia.
2. If the group is bold enough in the western world to label individuals because of just they want to ridicule and defame them, there is no reason for them to adopt the Meles style of fabricating wrong accusation against those they consider their owner personal opponent or even secrete lover of girl friend of a friend of their friend.
The best and only way to bring them short of their step in into political power is finishing them politically from the arena of Oromo politics.

Let God spare us from this dangerous group

I probably don’t agree with the photo ops of these individuals with Girma. But I am more disagreement with the approach in the comments on how shameless arrogant individuals try to attach the individuals. Who is the judge on the matter to make these three individuals to pay the price? Whose court is the verdict at? Who is representing Oromo to judge these individuals?
It is very sad to see collection of self-declared 'advocate' of the Oromo society attempting to judge individuals who are living in a free word for the false tag this blog is attaching to their name.
Don't try to push individuals or groups to the edge. I am sure you will regret for pushing all centrists to the edge. This hunger to marginalize these types of individuals will fire back without any doubt. Who will remain friend with organizations that engaged itself more in the denigrating of centrist Oromo individuals instead of actively working against the enemies? Let you please stop for a moment your unreserved insulting of these individuals and think for a while how far people like you are alienated the vast majority of potential Oromos from political organizations.

Yes, you can say that. You can also say OK to the organizers if you think this is not a big deal. But again that is not the issue. The question is, "does their taking picture with this OPDO guy, make them selling their soul for a land?" How do you make the connection? No one is answering this simple question. I think people have stopped thinking altogether.

"taking picture with this OPDO guy" as you put it is not a big deal to you but it is a big deal to many Oromos. That is the basic difference. One of your folks actualy think kissing this OPDO guy's shoes as an opportunity. This kind of mindset doesn't deserve any attention from any reader to waste time discussing.

I see some people genuinely trying to get things straight. They try to really know how on earth the writer of this blog connected the included photograph and the buying of land with own soul. Where is the connection? Many asked for anyone who has information or the writer himself to come out and tangibly prove this relationship. Those who know about the photograph and the event of fundraising have explicitly clarify the relation of this photograph to the fundraising event of Book for Africa on the other hand, the writer and others who claim about the truthfulness of the allegation didn’t get the gut to defend the relationship.
Many of the visitors mentioned about the destructive power of this type of allegations and deviating focus from the real issue and targeting three of the silent majority of Oromo.
I kindly ask the visitors of this blog to clean your hand from the dampened accusation against these three individuals. The fact of the matter is probably not from the ill-feeling about the Oromo and Oromo struggle. It is an abhorrence the writer and the owner of this blog have against one or two o or against all of these three individuals. It is a type “I got you!” type of defamation.

There are two things we have to put in perspective:

(1) I see the recent comments as a campaign to repair the damage these three individuals have brought to themeselves. It may be true that they met the Wayaanee Ambassdor during the book for Africa event. Who knows if they have met before then or after or may be they were happy to meet him [Girma Birru] there for whatever reason. If they are truly concerned for their people, they could have opposed and exposed that he and his government are killing, tourchering, and prisoning our people in-front of the audience there. They not only choose to keep silent, but they even posed for a picture with him. Taking picture with him could be deliberate or lack of judgment with no interest in mind. None of us except themselves with confidence can say for sure what the motive was.

(2)On the other hand, the Bloggers of this website, should/could have tried their best to find out how and why these guys were able to come in contact with the blood sucker Ambassdor before posting the picture. In other words, if they [bloggers] were not there in person, they should have made sure they get the information from a reliable source. By doing so, they could have avoided such controversey

Going forward, both have to learn their lessons. These individuals have to repair their names by joining arms with people who passionately oppose the tyrant regime. The bloggers also have to use reliable source and research first before publicizing uncomfirmed allegation on Oromos.

I see some are asking the bloggers to appologize and take down the picture. Just to be fair, how could the bloggers know the allegation was not true? Therefore, what happend has already happened and it put a dent in both the accused individuals and the bloggers. There is always tomorrow we as the Oromo public will judge them in the course of our struggle in the future. The struggle moves let's move on!!!

"I see some are asking the bloggers to appologize and take down the picture. Just to be fair, how could the bloggers know the allegation was not true?"

If he does not know the allegation is not true, then he should not post the pictures. It's only after you have reasonably concrete information that you should post such damaging title. You don't kill and ask question.

You also said, "Who knows if they have met before then or after or may be they were happy to meet him [Girma Birru] there for whatever reason." This is pure speculation. You don't publish defamatory article based on such unfounded speculation. Not only is this ABC of journalism, but also what a little sense of decency demands.

I really appreciate the comment posted just above tis one of mine.
The comment was solidly comes from matured individual. Yes, the comment on which he/she commented has no substance of maturity and common principled of journalism which everyone living in the western world understands. The blogger himself should have known much more than the common principle of publishing cases either on a paper or online. Unless he/she also is part of the conspirators he should have checked all what were mentioned in the comment of the individual.

At last I want to comment on one of the sentence left out from the comment of the Good Samaritan from the comment on August 21, 2011 2:05:00 AM EDT
“There is always tomorrow we as the Oromo public will judge them in the course of our struggle in the future. The struggle moves let's move on!!! “
I don’t think the Oromo public is with you to negatively judge these three individuals. Probably a handful of individuals or a political group is defaming the trio by attaching unfounded and fabricated case presented in this blog to their good name. Yes, the struggle to address the voice of Oromo will continue, but not a lip service while not even addressing the minor problem Oromo children are facing. At the time when the Oromo children of this generation are extremely in a difficult situation to compete at universities and colleges level against the well privileged students in the campuses, some people on this blog including the blogger himself are blaming and defaming the individuals who do their part to addressing the problem of these Oromo children.
Finally, I don’t think these individuals in the photo dare to prove about their stand on Oromo case and their loving heart for Oromo nation, specifically for Oromo children, to the individuals who are working hard to damage their reputation. I don’t also believe these individuals will take a minute to prove this to this blog site, to the blogger or to the individuals who collaborated in the marring their stand in the community by using the false and defamatory statement in the blog. In my view such a damaging campaign against individuals haven’t even been done to individuals who change their political stand and officially joined TPLF political force. As far as I know these individuals are living their own private life other than working with different individuals to send books to Oromia.

Good luck to Oromo political system. I simply hope there will be time when Oromo ‘politicians’ get to their common sense of true nation loving and focus on the right- and helpful issues rather than spending energy and time on character assassination of individuals who do their part for Oromo kids more than any of those who tries to present themselves as “hero’ of Oromo people by simply throwing harsh statements at the individuals in this blog.

I respecfully disagree with the last comment for he said, he does not believe the people on the photo will take a minute to prove this to this blog site. I think if they do that, they prove to us, to the audience not to the blog. In addition, they get the chance to tell Girma Birru and every Woyane supporters that they did not like to be associated with him and the Woyane government.

This is not speculation. The picture is taken in connection with Books of Africa. You can go to the web site and verify this. No more proof is needed for that. It is conclusive. The blogger said it was taken in connection with land grab meeting. Just look at the title he gave to the picture. This is a complete lie. Instead of owning his mistake he prefers to perpetuate his misinformation through his friends. The sign of maturity is to admit the mistake and apologize and remove the picture. But I don't think he has that quality.

I find some of the comments on this blog in relation to this piece very interesting for two reasons.

The first is that there are Oromo "nationalists" (those claim to be nationalists) who believe it is OK for these three individuals (some of them diaspora Oromo church elders) to have their pictures taken with the ambasaddor to the USA of the regime that is killing, terrorizing and displacing the Oromo people. What angers these "nationalists" more than the fact that our "community leaders" are lending respectability to our enemies is that the three individuals are "defamed." Regardless of the reason why they decided to smile to a camera with Girmaa Birruu, by having their pictures taken with him (representative of the Wayyanee Nazi gestapo), they have lent credibility and respectability to the very regime that is exterminating and dispossessing our people. For that reason alone, they deserve condemnation. There are many individuals and groups that are sending books to Oromia and I happen to support one of them myself. But they have been able to do that without giving credebility and respectability to murderors of our brothers and sisters back home. Even if the picture was taken at the BfA ocaasion, I find it hard to believe that sending books to Africa was the reason for the pictures.

Secondly, while some one or a few commentators calimimg to be firends and defenders of these individuals are busy denying the picture taking incident has nothing to do with Oromia land grab, the three individuals are completely silent on the issue. No applogy for appearing with a representative of killer of our people; no statement on whether they (or their wives) have been given land in Oromia prior to their pictures being taken or after. Let us hear what these three individuals have to say about these issues before we make our judgement.

Long live Oromia!
Death to Enemy Collaborators!

I know some people who have been sending books through Book for Africa. I am talking books large enough to fill a library. These people didn't have to take pictures with Girma or didn't have to show their happy face with an official who's master is bleeding our people. They might have thought their happy face will only be limited to some circles but that is the 2nd mistake they made. The primary and major mistake they made is putting that happy face on with Girma. I am not sure what make them happy, but they look very happy to me.

Someone said “Where are the three people? What we hear form frinds is nothing but speculation.
Let us hear from the horses mouth. “. I see from this statement where this discussion is leading. This one and other comments are very much damaging to the individuals and for all others who preferred to be silent in this time of divisive era of Oromo struggle. To tell the truth to the face of those of you who try to further politicize the action of these individuals:
1. These individuals didn’t represent any political entity and didn’t work/act under the umbrella of any organization during the meeting. On the other hand, there were events on many occasions when those who claim representative of Oromo sitting behind Ethiopian flag and addressing Ethiopian. But none of them were demonized like these three individuals.
2. The individuals may or may not be leaders of civic organizations. But it is up to the local organizations to either accept their leadership or not to accept. This shouldn’t have been brought to the national level arena to ridicule them unless the commentator(s) are aiming at them to hurt their feeling. It is doubtful if the “nationalist” who attempt to attach the individuals even have lived behind the scene to the level they are expecting from the individuals. Some the commentators probably have a father or a brother or a sister, brother –in-law, sister-in-law who is the worst and highly corrupted OPDO. The blaming tongue should have started its act from own keen in own house.
3. The most you can do to these individuals is to deny them to go back to home when you ‘liberate’ Oromia. There is nothing more you can do against them. But the acts and maturity level of the individuals actively chatting on this site doesn’t lead to the liberation, if they are the one who achieve it. Fortunately the force of liberation for Oromo will be from somewhere else.
4. This blog site, the self-righteous sharp tongued visitors of this site, and the organization they are operating under are doomed to be failed if they further continue in the path of ridiculing centrist individuals. Such innocently defamed individuals could try to protect themselves differently: They can be a formidable force for other factions of the Oromo political group. The winner in any genuine political group is the one which works to win the heart and mind of majority of its people. The winners are those who work to narrow the breadth of their enemy territory.
Let you think with your mind, not with your sharp tongue or your belly field with western fast food when you present a story as blogger or when you write a comment to the a blog. There is no gain for your ‘cause’ the way guys act and behave to act beyond your reach and level of thought.

Good Luck. Mercy to you guys.

Are some of the commentators out of their mind? Can you at least read? The QUESTION IS NOT WHETHER THE TAKING OF THE PICTURE IS RIGHT OR WRONG. The question is whether the bloger is intentionally lying about the picture. Many have shown by clear evidence that the picture was taken at BFA ceremony. Period. Therefore, he cannot by any strech of imagination say that it was related to land grab. He was lying, and caught with his pants down. Some one said, "what about if they had taken land?" That is my friend pure speculation coming from a sick mind. I could also say, what about you have taken land? There is no end to accusing anybody based on an unfounded allegation. Once the bloger admits his mistake then we can talk about whether taking the picture was wrong or not.

The two above! If you are the bloger come out and tell us. Otherwise no one is talking about the question you have. If you can read, please read again. The issue is raised in connection with the erroneous so called article or commentary of the bloger. Does the title and body of his commentary correclty describe where and how the picture was taken? That is the only question. You may have your own question, but we are not talking about that now. That is called diversionary tactic.

Why is the bloger hiding now? Either defend your action or admit the mistake. May be you have good explanation and you can convince us.

Personally I think he made a simple mistake because he was misinformed. But his little mistake is devastating to others and he should consider that. These people are not OPDOs as far as I know, and there is nothing to be gained in descrbing them in that fashion.

I am completely in agreement with the idea of hearing from the blogger. As mentioned, the primary issue on this blog is if truly the photograph is taken in relationship or from a meeting for land grab. The center of the discussion is not on having the photograph with Girma, but whether these individuals have traded in this photograph their soul for a piece of land or not. The case of having their picture taken with Grima and its effect on the psychic of Oromo is not the topic on which the blogger wrote or intended to present to his reader. But he consciously misled regular readers of his site with a fabricated and defaming commentary.
I have questions for the blogger if he/she is concerned further division and disfranchising of Oromo diaspora because of his irresponsible act in writing his blog using the photograph. about the damage he is ignited in dividing and more franchising action of Oromo diaspora. ive :
1. Let him/her write a proof of the relationship of the photograph with land grab in Oromia.
2. If there is no proof from her/him or from the supplier of the information to the blogger, let me either quietly remove the blog or apologize to the individuals. It requires courage to accept the bitterness of truth and extending apology.
3. After the blogger took the one of the above two steps we can discuss on the wrongness of having the photo taken with Girma. But the first thing is first and let the truth be revealed.
To some extent I know these individuals. I am positive these individuals don’t sell their soul for a piece of land. They don’t even attempt to sell their soul for the country as a whole. As far as I know them the individuals are driven by solidly principled life style in many areas of their daily life.
I am now on a verge of trying to avoid any Oromo related issues here in diaspora. If the sole purpose of our writing and the center of talking is to label individuals as enemy of the nation just because of simply they are not in the small and ridged circle, what is the use of engaging oneself in discussion or exchanging views? My hope has already faded out from expecting some form of engaging and reenergizing ideas. Instead of expanding engagement and involvement of the silent majority into the activities of Oromo affairs, this blog site and its narrow circle are engaging themselves in damaging the good names of individuals who have nothing to do with the statement of this commentary.

This blog has nothing to do other Oromo Affairs as far as the truth of the commentary is proved.

To the Anonymous before thsi who said "I am now on a verge of trying to avoid any Oromo related issues here in diaspora." If you plan to avoid Oromo related issues just because you think your friends are defamed (which I will continue to doubt until they come out and explain what busines they had that took them to Girmaa Birru), you are proving the fact, once again, that you were never a nationalist anyway. I am not surprised because the first time you proved this was when you decided to come down on the side of those who shook hands and have their pictures taken with a collaborator of the killer of our people - children, women, the elderly and Oromo nationalists struggling for our rights. That, my friend, is a mark of pesudo-nationalist. Thank God for people like the blogger who stand by our people and expose collaborators with any connection with the enemy. Someone said “…. And you have the odacity to ask him to appologize for you have no understanding of the pain of our nation and our nation's proud sons and daughters.”
I am not sure if you yourself understand the suffering of the nation under today’s political condition of the empire or the global outlook world politics. Understanding the suffering is not simply sitting down and righting comments on some statements in cyber world. Suffering the pain of the nation and bleeding with them is not throwing few tens of bucks to ‘organizations’ on annual political events.
Most of you are patriots and nationalists on cyber and/or on the squares and streets of western cities. This includes the blogger himself and his close associates.
If you feel the extreme level of Ormo suffering and genuinely ready to solve the problem, you dare to work on the following two:
1. Enlarge the size of engaged Oromo individuals and group who will work in some form or another in eliminating the suffering instead of engaging yourself in shallow and ideological view of “Those who have different view are my enemies” The ideology of 1960s and 1970s of eliminating people view and thoughts.
2. If you are concerned about Oromo, the first line of your enemy is not these three individuals. Or not even Girma. You have matured political thought and believe in having winning strategy, you would have worked to drive a wedge between Girma and his boss.
You need more matured and timely political view to achieve your dream. If at all your dream is inline with the dream of Ormo people.
Finally, I encourage the three individuals to write few statements and become clear from this bigotry action.
Good luck

Moment of truth:

We have heard from the blogger of this site and his henchmen about the sin and devastating action of these three individuals who “Bought a parcel of land with their soul”. We have heard too much threatening comments including taking action on these three Oromo individuals.
We also have read comments from genuine Oromo individuals who have rational thoughts and true seekers by honestly writing against this wind of defaming and hate; hate simply sourced out just because of the individuals not being in the outdated principles of education after victory, which is adopted from the 1970s motto of an organization that is still an arch enemy of Oromo people.
Assuming that their commentary is correct and the individuals were selling their soul for a piece of land in Oromia, the land grab is not ended by the buying of land by these three individuals with a transaction of their own soul, which is the most valuable “asset” they have on this earth. These individuals probably got a parcel of land with their soul according to the commentary. But there are Tigreans, Arabs, Indians, Pakistanis, Isaas from Djibouti who got a land in a size of comparable to a size of some of the free African countries in some cases.
I want to genuinely ask those heroes and heroines of internet to do the following regarding the confiscating of farmlands with sizes that can be comparable to some free countries in Africa that were taken away from Oromo people by the above-mentioned aliens:
1. Stand against the TPLF regime for selling the land that never belonging to them to those aliens. Stand against them on your fighting field-cyber world. I know you have no gut or spirit to fight them on physical fields of Oromia. If you had that, you shouldn’t burg only in townships of western World for 30+ years.
2. Start companying against those foreign aliens and the Tigrean exploiters (business people) who are garbing fertile Oromo farmland from east to west and from Northern to southern tips, as if it has no owner.
3. Get this legitimate quest of losing own fertile land for a price less than a cost for a loaf of bread to international arena and world forums. The small money of the leasing of these farmlands even not going to the welfare of the Oromo people.
The true nationalism and heroism of the blogger and his team as well as the organ they are functioning under can be proven after they managed to handle at least these three cases. Then after we can discuss about those three poor Oromo individual who have no money to buy a parcel of land and paid for it with their own “soul”.

“Kan dandesuu dhaan jenani Gowaan galee nitii dhaan jedhama.”

See after after your actions against the aliens.

Where did you pull that out of? Your hat? That motto was out of the 70s and is outdtaed alright! However, to set the record straight, if I recall correctly, this was the motto of the DARG and its now dead and buried (except for a few of its remenants) lapdog organization "MEISON". Fact is that no nationalist Oromo accepted or adopted that motto then or now. For nationalist Oromos, eductaion was and is as important as the struggle itself and is actually the backbone of the struggle. Note that I said education NOT mis-education from which MEISONITES and others are still suffering. MEISONITES are known for their lack of confidence in themselves and in the great Oromo people and thus cannot imagine a free and independent Oromia from Ethiopia.

In fact, for your information, "revolution" was never in the nationalist vocabulary in the 70s much less used in their slogan. LIBERATION was what they advicated for and continue to to do so!

So if you want to talk about "eduaction after revolution" get your facts straight first.

You also refer to those who disagree with you as "heroes and heroines of internet." To that, I would only say "LOOK WHO IS TALKING!" Ati ammoo eeyssa irratti barreessaa fi saa'ibban (ykn mataa) keetiif falmmaa jirttaa? Meeshaan ati ittin katabaa jirttu kun qawwee kan ati barreesstiu rasaasa sitti fakkaatee turee? Yoo kanneen Internet irratti si dura dhaabbatan jagnoota Internet ta'an, ati hoo maal taataa? Mee itti yaadi yaa obboleesso/obboleettii tiyya.

Long live a liberated and free Oromia!
